Chinese authorities are closing off the city of Wuhan, in an attempt to contain the outbreak of the coronavirus, a pneumonia-like virus which has already spread halfway around the world.

Beginning Thursday planes and trains leaving the city will be cancelled, and buses, subways and ferries will be suspended. This new virus, which had just emerged at the end of December, has killed 17 people so far with more than 400 infected.
