The payment giant Visa today announced the establishment of the "Visa Economic Empowerment Institute" (VEEI), a center for research and public-private dialogue on payment policies, dedicated to promoting the equitable economic empowerment of individuals, businesses, and societies around the world. 

Dr. Barbara Kotschwar, Georgetown University professor and former World Bank expert, will serve as the executive director of VEEI. She will lead a research team including experts from payments, central banks, development finance, international trade, cybersecurity, and other fields. They will develop new research and insights to provide information on long-term policies in the global payment ecosystem and increase the value of digital payments and global networks to promote economic inclusiveness and economic growth.
