BTC Market, Australia's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has accidentally leaked the emails and names of over 270,000 customers, according to a recent tweet from the exchange.

The statement from the company went on to say that security of the platform and user accounts is the top priority of the exchange. It reassured users adding that the platform remains secure despite the email leakage and that external communications processes are separate from internal processes. Because of this, no password data was leaked.

The statement ended by urging users to enable two-factor authentication on the platform to protect their accounts.

"We will self-report to the Office of Australian Information Commissioner and fully comply with the data breach reporting requirements," the statement read. "In addition, there will be an internal review and additional rigour placed around data security and training."
