An IBM-powered blockchain platform is offering a way for people to track wine from the vineyard to the point of purchase, according to a recent announcement.

IBM has partnered with wine monitoring firm eProvenance to release the VinAssure platform. VinAssure will run on IBM Cloud allowing wine producers, importers, transporters, distributors, restaurants, retailers, and others to track the supply chain of bottles through a permanent, permissioned and shared record.

The IBM system will allow wine purchasers to use identification codes on bottles to learn about the origin and flavors. Additionally, customers will be able to view any standards regarding organic, biodynamic, or sustainability practices.
