According to CNBC, data from business analytics company CB Insights shows that blockchain startups raised a record $4.38 billion in financing in the second quarter,  representing an increase of more than 50% over the previous quarter, and an increase of nearly nine times over the same period last year.

The financing of the entire FinTech company also set a new record with $30.8 billion, an increase of 30% over the previous quarter and almost three times the same period last year.

Chris Bendtsen, a senior analyst at CB Insights, told CNBC that despite short-term price fluctuations in the crypto market, venture capital firms are still optimistic about the future of cryptocurrencies as a mainstream asset class.
