Bitfinex, the cryptocurrency exchange, claims to have paid back another $100 million to Tether after reportedly taking out $700 million from Tether’s reserves last year.
Bitfinex took the loan to make up for an $850 million financial loss after its payment processor, Crypto Capital, had its funds seized by authorities, according to an announcement from the New York Attorney General’s office back in April of 2019. On Friday, Bitfinex reportedly wired the payment in fiat to Tether’s bank account.
