In an interview with the German business news agency The Handelsblatt on Tuesday, Jesse Powell, co-founder and CEO of Kraken, a US-based cryptocurrency exchange, said that Kraken is planning to enter the European market.

The company has targeted several potential local jurisdictions this year to obtain regulatory approvals. Powell pointed out that Kraken has been negotiating with a number of European regulators, among which countries such as Malta, Luxembourg and Ireland are the most likely jurisdictions to obtain an exchange license.

The CEO stated that Kraken plans to obtain the exchange license before the end of 2021. As Bitpush previously reported, Kraken launched the Kraken mobile App in Europe in January 2021.
