Lisa Monaco, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ) of the United States, stated at the AspenCyber Summit in 2021 that the DOJ has established a "National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team", formed with money laundering experts. 

She said: "We won't hesitate to go after laundering platforms and are drawing on cyber experts and prosecutors, and money laundering experts."

Monaco also stated that the regulatory authority will hunt down companies that do not comply with cyber security standards while protecting whistleblowers.
