Stripe, a U.S. payment unicorn is forming a crypto development team, according to its official recruitment announcement. The team plans to hire at least four senior engineers to help develop Stripe's encryption strategy. The job posting wrote: "Crypto is a brand new team at Stripe. you will design and build the core components that we need to support crypto use cases."
Stripe raised $600 million in March 2021, bringing its valuation to $95 billion, which made it the highest-valued startup in the United States.
Stripe announced its support for Bitcoin in 2014, becoming the first in the payment industry, and gave up this service four years later. But a source revealed that Stripe never left crypto. The company said it processes hundreds of billions of dollars in e-commerce every year, 90% of American adults have used it; its API, which still contains the code that supports Bitcoin transactions, is used hundreds of millions of times a day.
