Microsoft is developing the metaverse function within Microsoft Teams, a proprietary business communication platform, and will introduce Mesh (a virtual experience collaboration platform) directly into Teams next year, as reported by The Verge.

Microsoft describes Mesh for Teams as a feature of Teams, the development team will use artificial intelligence to listen to a person's voice and use it to animate the avatar. It will "combine the mixed-reality capabilities of Microsoft Mesh, which allows people in different physical locations to join collaborative and shared holographic experiences, with the productivity tools of Teams, where people can join virtual meetings, send chats, collaborate on shared documents, and more."

Katie Kelly, chief product manager of Microsoft Mesh, said that the appearance of the new metaverse of Microsoft Teams will be launched as early as the first half of 2022.
