David Marcus, head of Novi Wallet, Diem co-founder and board member, announced on Twitter that he will resign from Meta (formerly Facebook) at the end of the year.

Marcus wrote: "after a fulfilling seven years at Meta, I've made the difficult decision to step down and leave the company at the end of this year."

Stephane Kasriel, the current VP of Product at Novi, will take over after Marcus leaves.

Novi was originally a wallet project of Facebook and has been stagnant for many years. Earlier this year, it reached a pilot agreement with Paxos to start small pilots in the United States and Guatemala. However, the project has been closely watched by regulators, five senators from the US Senate Banking Committee wrote to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerburg on October 19, urging the company to stop launching Diem and Novi.
