During a Q&A with the media following the release of Nintendo's latest financial results, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa was asked about the company's stance on the Metaverse and NFTs.

According to VGC, Shuntaro Furukawa said the Metaverse and NFTs have "great potential", saying: "The metaverse is attracting the attention of many companies around the world, and we believe that it has great potential...In addition, when the metaverse is mentioned in the media, software such as Animal Crossing is sometimes cited as an example, and in this sense, we are interested in it."

However, the gaming giant, founded in 1889, is not ready to break into this new field, arguing that the company needed to figure out its own way of exploring the metaverse. Furukawa explained: “If we can find a way to communicate our ‘Nintendo approach’ to many people in an easy-to-understand manner, we may be able to consider something, but we do not believe that this is the case at this time.”
