Bitfury, the blockchain development firm, has re-assigned the computing power it uses for digital currency transaction processing to COVID-19 research.

According to an announcement on March 31, the firm has been reallocating its high-powered GPU-enabled computing nodes to run COVID-19 calculations since March 20.

The reallocation of Bitfury’s resources are contributing to Folding@Home’s (F@H) project, which run simulations of the virus’ molecular structure in an effort to contribute to the development of effective therapeutics.
