The United States Department of Transportation lately released a report discussing how the blockchain technology could benefit unmanned aircraft systems’ flight operations.

Unmanned aircraft systems, also known as drones, have been carrying out commercial deliveries for wildfire and emergency response, medicine and organs for transplant delivery, search and rescue, safety and security monitoring, and more, according to the report.

The report believed that the blockchain technology could assist in these services with its security and immediacy. A blockchain-based flight recorder could provide essential data in real-time, which would allow law enforcement to be proactive rather than reactive.
