Canada’s Central Bank Appointed a New Governor to Succeed the Bitcoin Skeptic Poloz

His deputy governor also doubted the application of cryptocurrencies earlier this year, “Bitcoin and similar digital assets were introduced with the hopes of becoming the money of the future. That hasn’t happened, nor it is likely to.”
Macklem’s stance on cryptocurrencies is still unclear. He has been Dean of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto since 2014. Previously, Macklem served as the Senior Deputy Governor at the Bank of Canada from 2010 to 2014.
