During a media availability after a committee meeting on Wednesday, SEC chairman Gary Gensler was questioned about his stance on the cryptocurrency industry calling him to recuse himself from making certain decisions relating to cryptocurrencies. In response, he emphasized his unwavering commitment to ethical responsibility.

"I take an oath, along with my fellow commissioners, to enforce the law that Congress passed and how the courts interpret it." Gensler said during the media availability. “It really comes down to protecting the investing public and looking through the facts and the circumstances of each of the individual tokens and the platforms themselves.”

Last month, the Blockchain Association published a paper suggesting that Gary Gensler should recuse himself from certain cryptocurrency enforcement decisions. The association claimed in the paper that the cryptocurrency industry is not able to get a "fair assessment" from the SEC chair because of Gensler's previous statement that everything but bitcoin could be considered a security.
