CoinMarketCap announced on May 13 that the crypto data platform introduced liquidity score and added web traffic to its existing metrics, which ranks exchanges based on liquidity. These improvements aim to better inform users of prospective trading options.

CoinMarketCap explained the adoption of web traffic factor as an intermediate proxy to reflect user numbers of retail traders. “It takes into account an extensive range of data points, including pageviews, unique visitor count, bounce rate, time-on-time, relative ranking and keyword searches on major search engines.”

At the moment of writing, Binance ranks first with 1000 for web traffic factor and 358 for average liquidity, followed by Coinbase Pro and BitMEX.
