Summary: Ethereum’s testnet Topaz has attracted 29,300 validators who have staked over 1 million ETH, per Decrypt. Launched in mid-April, Topaz functions as a trial of the upcoming Ethereum 2.0 upgrade, when the Ethereum network will evolve to a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) protocol.

Ethereum’s testnet Topaz has attracted 29,300 validators who have staked over 1 million ETH, per Decrypt. Launched in mid-April, Topaz functions as a trial of the upcoming Ethereum 2.0 upgrade, when the Ethereum network will evolve to a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) protocol.

“The 1M ETH milestone with high rates of stability gives us confidence that ETH2 can handle this level of activity when phase 0 launches later this year,” said Preston Van Loon, CEO of Prysmatic Labs, which operates Topaz.
