The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has requested a four-month extension, until February 2025, to produce "hundreds of thousands" of documents in its discovery proceedings with Coinbase. The request stems from a recent court order requiring the SEC to provide information on its application of securities laws to certain crypto tokens. Initially set to produce documents by October 2024, the SEC now seeks additional time to review at least 133,582 unique documents. If granted, expert discovery deadlines would extend to April 2025, pushing a potential jury trial into 2025.
