Ethereum addresses holding ETH have skyrocketed to 40 million, an increase of over 350% since the currency's all time high price of $1,431 in January 2018, glassnode reports. As of writing, ETH is trading at $204.64.

The total use of gas on Ethereum also reached a high of 61 billion on Saturday, May 23, according to data from Etherscan.io. This spike indicates increased user activity within the Ethereum blockchain network, as reported by cointelegraph.com. 

The increased holdings combined with the high gas usage indicate public confidence in the success of the Ethereum 2.0 launch which is expected before the end of this year.
