Coinbase announced that Horizen is transitioning from the Layer 1 Horizen blockchain to an ERC-20 token based on Base. The upgrade is expected to take place on July 23, 2025, with Coinbase planning to temporarily halt ZEN deposits, withdrawals, and trading from July 16 to July 25. Coinbase will support the migration and automatically convert ZEN tokens from Layer 1 Horizen to Base, with plans to temporarily disable the Horizen network on July 16 to execute the upgrade.
