Web3 Foundation launched its inagural version of Polkadolt on Tuesday, May 26, according to a release from the company. 

Polkadot allows decentralized blockchain networks to work together, allowing users and "entire digital societies" to interact without centralized institutions. The release of the Polkadot protocol is a step forward in the advancement of decetralized application development, the announcement said. 

The launch follows Web3 Foundation's Kusama canary network release in 2019.
