According to Cointelegraph, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has recently filed a lawsuit in a California federal court against German resident Tobias Honscha, accusing him of maliciously squatting on the domain coinbase.de and using it inappropriately. Coinbase alleges that Honscha not only redirected the domain to a fiat currency trading app but also used it as a Coinbase affiliate link to earn commissions, violating affiliate agreement terms. The exchange further accuses Honscha of attempting to extort Coinbase into purchasing the domain at a high price, implying security risks if they refused. Additionally, Honscha is accused of using @coinbase.de email service to communicate with users, potentially causing confusion. Coinbase is seeking a court order to prohibit the defendant from using the domain and claiming damages and commission income.
