A Manhattan jury has ruled that Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm conspired to operate an unlicensed money transmission business, but did not reach a consensus on money laundering and sanctions violations charges. DeFi Education Fund, Blockchain Association, and other crypto organizations expressed disappointment with the verdict, stating it sets a dangerous precedent for open-source software developers and urging Storm to appeal. CahillNXT partner Samson Enzer noted that the verdict showed the government failed to fully prove that Storm knowingly aided money launderers. Storm himself stated he will continue to fight the related charges. (The Block)
