According to sources, Sergei Leshchenko, the chief advisor to the Ukrainian President's Office, made a statement on social media on August 16 regarding the way and approach to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Leshchenko stated that Ukraine firmly believes that a ceasefire must be achieved first before advancing to subsequent negotiation processes.

Leshchenko clearly pointed out that Ukraine's position is very clear, that is to cease fire first before discussing other matters. The reason for this is that if negotiations are initiated before a ceasefire, Ukraine will face significant extortion risks. Only by effectively achieving a ceasefire can necessary space be created for diplomatic activities.
