According to Panda Shield monitoring, there were approximately 16 major cryptocurrency security incidents in August 2025, resulting in a total loss of $163 million, a 15% increase from July's $142 million.

The five largest security incidents were:

1. A Bitcoin holder lost $91.4 million;

2. Turkish cryptocurrency exchange platform BTCTurk suffered a $54 million loss;

3. ODIN•FUN project incurred a $7 million loss;

4. BetterBank.io lost $5 million;

5. CrediX Finance lost $4.5 million.

It is worth noting that BTCTurk has experienced two major security incidents in the past year, with cumulative losses exceeding $100 million after a $54 million loss in June 2024.
