According to reports, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) held a meeting on stablecoins at the end of August, discussing five main topics including stablecoin guidelines proposed by the HKMA, licensing mechanisms, ecosystem collaboration, establishment of dedicated groups, and focusing on KYB (Know Your Business) and KYC (Know Your Customer). Attendees reportedly included institutions interested in applying for stablecoin issuer licenses such as Ant Group, LianLian Pay, and HKEX, with HKMA representatives absent and HKMA representatives being Executive Director Eddie Yue and Director of Policy Research Arthur Yuen.
