According to official sources, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today that they will jointly hold a roundtable meeting on September 29, 2025, from 1 pm to 5 pm (Eastern Time), focusing on regulatory coordination opportunities.
SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins and Acting CFTC Chairman Caroline D. Pham stated that through close collaboration, they aim to provide clarity to the market and leverage the unique regulatory structure of the United States for the benefit of market participants, investors, and the public.
The statement highlighted that the previous joint staff statement on spot cryptocurrency products was just the first step. The two agencies will consider coordinating product and trading platform definitions, streamlining reporting and data standards, harmonizing capital and margin frameworks, and establishing a coordinated innovation exemption mechanism to better serve the public interest.
