In a breaking news, on September 8, the Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives released a screenshot showing a letter allegedly signed by former President Donald Trump, containing a page from a 'birthday card' given to Jeffrey Epstein on his 50th birthday in 2003.
The content of the letter is highly controversial: within a hand-drawn outline of a female torso, there is a conversation between Trump and Epstein, with Trump's signature appearing below the drawn buttocks.
Trump had previously denied the existence of this letter and sued The Wall Street Journal in July for reporting on it, seeking damages of up to $100 billion.
Although the Trump team claims the signature is forged, a comparison image released by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Budowich attempts to prove the signature does not match. However, The New York Times had already reported in 2016 on a Trump signature style highly similar to the one on the letter.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted on X, stating: 'The release of this drawing proves the entire 'birthday card' incident is false.' She emphasized that Trump 'neither signed nor drew the picture,' and stated that the legal team will continue to take action.
