Casa co-founder Jameson Lopp stated on social media that he has been discussing the risks of quantum computing to Bitcoin for 18 months. He hopes quantum computing development will slow down or fade, as adapting Bitcoin for the post-quantum era will be challenging for many reasons. Quantum computers are not expected to crack the Bitcoin network in the short term. However, a thorough overhaul of the Bitcoin network (and unprecedented fund migration) may take 5 to 10 years. We should remain hopeful but also prepare for the worst.
