Galaxy Research Director: Bitcoin to Rise to $250,000 by End of 2027

According to reports, Galaxy Digital's research director Alex Thorn stated that Bitcoin is expected to reach $250,000 by the end of 2027. The market outlook for 2026 is uncertain, but a new all-time high for Bitcoin is still possible. Options pricing currently indicates that by the end of June 2026, Bitcoin could either drop to $70,000 or rise to $130,000, with similar probabilities for reaching $50,000 or $250,000 by the end of the year. The wide price range reflects high uncertainty in the short to medium-term outlook. The overall crypto market is currently in a bear market, with Bitcoin yet to establish clear bullish momentum. Downside risks remain until BTC stabilizes above the $100,000-$105,000 range. Macro uncertainties, including AI capital expenditure pace, monetary policy environment, and the upcoming US midterm elections in November, are also increasing. Bitcoin's long-term volatility has structurally decreased, possibly due to larger scale covered call selling and Bitcoin yield generation strategies. Notably, the pricing of put options in Bitcoin's volatility smile curve is now higher than call options, indicating a mature trend that may continue. Institutional adoption and maturity of the asset class are increasing, regardless of Bitcoin's price movements. The continued expansion of institutional access, coupled with gradually looser monetary policies and market demand for non-dollar hedging assets, are resonating. In the next two years, Bitcoin is likely to be widely accepted as an asset for hedging against currency devaluation, similar to gold.
