Shaw: Quantum Computing Threat to Bitcoin is Baseless, Speculators are Clueless

Summary: ElizaOS founder Shaw dismissed the threat of quantum computing to Bitcoin, stating its implementation is much further off than currently reported. The Grover algorithm only reduces the search space from 2^256 to 2^128 for hash functions like SHA-256, but 2^128 is still unbreakable. ElizaOS founder Shaw dismissed the threat of quantum computing to Bitcoin, stating its implementation is much further off than currently reported. The Grover algorithm only reduces the search space from 2^256 to 2^128 for hash functions like SHA-256, but 2^128 is still unbreakable. The Shor algorithm theoretically can crack RSA/ECDSA encryption, but current quantum computers typically rely on preprocessing or known factors for optimization, not a pure Shor algorithm implementation. To crack Bitcoin's real-time network, rapid repeated execution is needed, and if successful, all encrypted data would be exposed, making Bitcoin a minor issue. Modern cryptography has always assumed future computational growth, with quantum acceleration anticipated and factored in decades ago. Whenever you see fear or hype around quantum computing, remember: these people are completely clueless.
