According to a report from CoinDesk, a transaction of 0.55 ether, valued at $133, went through a Chinese mining pool, Spark Pool, with a transaction fee of 10666 ETH, which was worth almost $2.6 million.

The report explained that a regular transaction fee usually costs $0.50, yet the sender could manually set the price higher to fasten the process.

So far, the identities of both the sender and the receiver remain unrevealed. Still, the report pointed out that the sender’s ETH wallet balance is still over $11 million after the exorbitant commission. As none of the other transactions from the same sender came with such high commission, the whale sender may have inverted the transaction and commission this time.
