The amendment comes as Spain is working to comply with the European Union's laws surrounding anti-money laundering and terrorist financing six months past the deadline.

If the amendment is passed crypto exchanges, wallet providers, and custodian companies will have to adhere to national regulation and registration. Crypto companies will need to register with the Bank of Spain within 9 months of the law passing.

The amendment will improve the effectiveness of existing anti-money laundering and terrorist financing prevention mechanisms according to the government's website
