According to reports from Tech in Asia, Japanese venture capital firm Saison Capital, a subsidiary of Credit Saison, has announced the establishment of a blockchain special investment fund called Onigiri Capital with an initial target size of $50 million. The fund has already secured $35 million in funding commitments and will focus on investing in startups developing stablecoins, payments, asset tokenization, DeFi, and financial market infrastructure solutions for real-world assets (RWA). Onigiri Capital is led by Qin En Looi and Hans de Back, both of whom have experience in fintech and digital asset investments across Asia. The fund plans to leverage Credit Saison's network resources in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines to bridge US startups with the Asian cryptocurrency community and financial institutions.
